As I hopped from Platform to Platform,
My endurance being put to the test
These obstacles have been created
To let by only the best of the best
And the best I was, as I dodged the leaping balls of fire
from the lava below that looked like ketchup sauce
I jumped, advancing higher and higher,
On my quest to defeat the final boss
I made it to the top, with a nearly full life gauge
Both of my thumbs were callused and sore
When the background music suddenly changed
And creaked slowly open, a giant red door
A hideous creature emerged,
Covered with spikes and scales pale green
With a long snake's body, evil red eyes,
And the cheapest
There is a sickness, a fatal disease
an illness inside that nobody sees
bit by bit, it eats away at your heart
completely tearing you apart
you'll know when it's about to begin
you'll feel like your chest is caving in
it never sleeps, it never dies
it feeds off fragile and innocent lives
you can try your very best
but know that it will never rest
it makes you weak, it makes you sad
it makes you cut, it drives you mad
you'll never escape it, you'll never be free
and I know for a fact cuz the sickness killed me
